This is the story of Belle...
I got Belle when I was in college. I had always wanted a husky puppy, and randomly saw this sign for a breeder in St. Mary's County called Husky Heaven (I have no idea if the place still exists) and decided to just stop by and see the puppies. You know. Just casually check it out. Bad idea, of course. One of the dogs had just had a small littler of puppies--just two of them (both girls)! The puppies were adorable, but pretty boring. They looked like sleepy little close-eyed hamsters. But being around all the huskies was amazing, and I was hooked. They told me to come back and check out the pups in a few weeks, once they had grown.
When I went back, the puppies were a lot bigger and had a LOT more energy! They were both red and white with bright blue eyes. When I saw down to play, one puppy just ran around like crazy (as puppies do). The other one gave me a slightly grumpy blue-eyed stare, climbed into my lap, and promptly fell asleep. Instant love.
Although I was in college, I still lived at home. One reason was that it seemed silly to pay (read: have my parents pay) almost double for room and board at a college that was only 50 minutes away. The other reason....well, we all know I'm kind of a homebody. I was NOT about to share a room with someone. Anyway, I won't go into the begging and pleading I had to do to convince my parents to let me bring the dog home. Suffice it to say, I brought Belle home in December and everyone loved her....although she remained a grumpy puppy.
To be continued.....
